ABSTRACT: The Role of Emotional Intelligence in Vocational Skill Development is a critical factor in enhancing students' overall competence and employability. This study examined how emotional intelligence (EI) influences the development of vocational skills. The objectives were: to assess the current level of EI among vocational students, to explore the impact of EI on skill acquisition and performance, and to identify strategies for integrating EI training into vocational education. A survey design was employed due to its efficiency in gathering extensive data from a large number of participants, enabling a thorough exploration of the topic. A sample size of 180 vocational training students and instructors was chosen using a purposive sampling technique to include individuals with varying levels of EI. The case study was the Federal Technical College in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Findings indicated that high levels of EI significantly improved students' learning outcomes, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. It was recommended that vocational training programs should include EI training in their curricula, provide workshops and seminars on EI, and encourage a supportive learning environment that fosters emotional growth and resilience.
